SmithsonianTweenTribune - an alternative to Newsela, it delivers news FREE and teachers can get their student's quiz results without upgrading. You can select by grade level, lexile,or topic. Under Teacher Resources>Smithsonian Resources, you can select by CC standards.
Time for Kids - free weekly magazine for kids.
Newsela - students can access this database of articles using their Clever login. It's got lots of features for teachers, especially since our district has a Pro subscription. Here's a short video on how to assign articles to students. Link
We Are Teachers provides links to 40 social studies websites, including
Flocabulary is offering a 60-day free trial to educators during this pandemic using your Google login. Ms. Arceneaux describes it as "a collection of educational songs (think School House Rock but rap and hip hop) covering all areas of academia".
Open Culture offers over 200 free kid's learning resources, such as audiobooks, tutorials, museum collections like the Art Institute and the Smithsonian. Warning - there are ads!

Teaching Books - lesson plans, trailers, author interviews, everything you could ask for to teach books! Teachers can sign in by clicking on the Educator Login and entering their District 65 email address and click Login.
Public Libraries Teacher Resources
All Walker teachers can check out resources including books, STEAM kits, and class sets with both Evanston Public Library and Skokie Public Library. Click on the library name to get more information about teacher services. Contact Ms. Hertel to help you with the best resources and/or services.
